This Graduate Seminar on Numerical Simulation focuses on techniques for the efficient numerical solution of partial differential equations. We will focus on adaptive mesh refinement, its motivation and challenges. In particular, in the context of high performance computing, associated algorithms for maintaining and modifying the mesh become a self-contained problem with non-obvious approaches to solving it. We will cover algorithmic ideas from research literature and their applications.

An initial meeting for showcasing the topics is on February 5th, at 11 o’clock in the third floor of the INS buildung (FHA 7), in the coffee area behind the rightmost staircase.
